Cannan Elementary School Library

International Dot Day
"🎶Make  a Mark, Make it Matter🎶"
Cannan students celebrate Dot Day by enjoying a read aloud of "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. The book inspires creativity and collaboration by encouraging children to be brave and make their creative mark. Our students are encouraged to sign their full names and take ownership of their works of art.
After reading and discussing the book, the students learn "The Dot" song, by Emily Arrow. Our Library Manager and American Sign Language expert, Mrs. King, teaches the students to sign the song.
The creative product consists of colored circle quarters, involving the Math concept of fractions. The circles will be put together as a school-wide work of art using the color wheel as a guide to decorate the library windows like stained glass. And of course, they must sign their art!
The students are extremely excited about their art project for Dot Day!
🎨 Stay tuned to see the finished product! ðŸŽ¨

Welcome to the Cannan Elementary Library!

The library is ready for our kiddos! Many thanks to Daphne Meador, retired dyslexia teacher extraordinaire and friend of our library, for decorating the shelves with books and stuffed animals! I have always believed the best decorations in a school library are books, books, and more books!
What a welcoming space for our students to immerse themselves into books and reading!❤️ 🤓📚
